“Court sense” speaks to your awareness of the court, your awareness of your opponent’s options, and how you might best respond to those same options.
Decisions about “what to do” based on your and the opponents court position, and decisions about “where to be” to identify and antcipate their most likely reply.
You need to actually play (not lessons or clinics) to grow instinctual court awareness. And for better or worse the learning comes from trial and error and a keen understanding of what happened and why it happened.
To grow your court awareness I recommend a specific approach, perhaps called “winners make it happen.” I know ours is a defensive game. But taking risks will accerate this process.
What do do – approach shots, drop shots, even the second shot pass, all create “situations” to evaluate the quality of your shot
Where to be then flows from your observation of the opponent, the situation, and the likely replies, and how you might best respond to those same options.
